We have been spending some time learning about the fire and how to keep safe while in the garden. As part of ‘Black History Month’, the children all got involved in cooking plantain on the campfire. The Children were taught how to peel and chop plantain in to small pieces and others were encouraged to get involved in setting up a ‘safe’ fire. Norah fried the plantain while the children watched and then shared it with everyone in the school.
The Children talked about their home experiences one said, “This is like a barbeque we have at home.” Another said “This is a like a campfire”.
The children were all very involved and loved watching the fire dance and smelling the smoky scents.
